Student Affairs Message to Students: Return to In-Person Learning Spring 2022

Wednesday February 02, 2022 8:30 am

Dear Titans,

I write to remind you that Cal State Fullerton will return to in-person instruction starting on Monday, February 7, 2022. Although we shifted to virtual learning for two weeks in order to lessen the density on campus during a spike in Omicron virus cases, the spike is now decreasing. Data from the Orange County Health Care Agency demonstrates that Orange County has seen a decline in the Omicron surge; the scientific data models predict that this will continue. Other California State University campuses and local universities will also return to in-person instruction within weeks. Put simply, we accomplished our goal – to reduce the risk of infection on the Cal State Fullerton campus.

Please be assured that we will continue to prioritize your health and safety. We have many measures and resources in place for your care, including a dedicated coronavirus contact tracing team, on-campus testing, indoor face covering requirement, air filtration systems in classrooms, and on-campus isolation/quarantine beds for Student Housing residents.

As a reminder, it remains essential that we all continue to adhere to campus health and safety measures. These measures include staying home if sick, reporting COVID-19 cases or exposures, testing when symptomatic or exposed, wearing a mask indoors, sharing your vaccine booster information by February 7, 2022 (or as you become eligible), and following President’s Directive 22. Information on these items can be found on the Titans Return: COVID-19 Recovery website

Thank you for taking the time to read this message. We are excited for us to return in-person and have worked very hard to increase our outdoor seating areas – you will notice new furniture near the HSS Quad, in front of Langsdorf Hall, and on Titan Walk. All of our food services will be open (you will also notice Pieology and Hibachi San as new eateries); the Student Recreation Center will reopen with a new outdoor space as well; and Discoverfest will be hosted in-person on February 9 and 10. Lastly, we hope to see you at our Titan Athletics games for Basketball, Track and Field, Softball and Baseball – students get in for free!
