Message Regarding Re-Entry from Provost Thomas
Friday June 04, 2021 9:50 amHello Academic Affairs Colleagues,
You have likely seen the announcement from VP David Forgues in HRDI that the campus is shifting its re-entry from July 1 to August 1. This is in response to Cal/OSHA’s decision, yesterday, to phase out social distancing as of July 31st instead of the earlier date we had previously anticipated. I am including that announcement below in case that is helpful.
Within Academic Affairs, this means that we will plan to return, across the division, on August 2nd (Monday). This should still give us sufficient time to prepare to welcome our students to a primarily in-person fall semester while ensuring that we are waiting until after the 6-foot social distancing requirement is lifted, as was our original plan.
It is possible that some units may need to return prior to August 2nd in order to be ready for fall. If that is the case, your supervisor will communicate with you directly, and all health and safety guidelines will be followed.
We will continue to keep you informed through monthly forums—the next one is Tuesday, June 8th at 4 pm.
Thank you for all you are doing for your fellow Titans, and for your patience as we navigate this process.
Best wishes,
Carolyn
Carolyn Thomas, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
