Letter to Students in Residence Halls – Plan to Move Out, if Possible, by Noon Friday, March 20.

Tuesday March 17, 2020 8:29 am

Hello Residents,

We recognize how stressful and uncertain this time may be for many of you.  We hope this message will provide guidance related to your housing experience.

After much consultation with local health agencies and university administration and given the continually changing nature and community impact of COVID-19, Housing and Residential Engagement is expecting all residents to leave campus, if you’re able, and return to their permanent homes to complete their virtual course work. Residents should plan to leave campus before noon on Friday, March 20. With the ambiguity and ever-changing nature of the situation, we are providing you the following options:

  1. You may elect to completely move out of your housing assignment and turn in your keys. If this is the option you select, you need to clear out your room/apartment, clean to the best of your abilities, and return your keys to Juniper 150 (J150). This will be staffed between 8am-5pm each day this week. After hours you will turn your keys into the RA duty team. We will have a limited number of bins to assist you while moving out. They are available in J150 for check out. If you choose to check out completely, we will be in touch at a later date regarding your financial account.
  2. You may elect to temporarily leave campus during the UNIVERSITY’S virtual instruction period (currently scheduled to end on April 26, 2020) and return at a later date to complete a full check out. We ask that you, also, visit J150 upon your departure to inform the staff of your intentions.

We understand that for some of you (international students, guardian scholars, out-of-state residents, etc.), on-campus housing is your permanent home and options to leave campus are limited. Should this be the case for you, please email housing@fullerton.edu before noon Wednesday, March 18 so we may work with you to accommodate your needs regarding housing and dining. Please include name, CWID, and building/room number.

Additionally, starting tomorrow, there will be adjustments at the Gastronome. They will no longer be allowing dining within the Gastronome. You will be permitted to pick up food and take it back to your room/apartment.

We will continue to provide updates as they are available to your csuf email address. For more information, visit Cal State Fullerton’s COVID-19 website at http://coronavirus.fullerton.edu/. For general housing related questions, please email housing@fullerton.edu.

We greatly appreciate your support and cooperation during this time. We would like this to be as smooth of a transition as possible. If there are any concerns you have, please email housing@fullerton.edu. We are here to support you and help you get home safely.

Thank you,

Jenni
